Beaded Kumihimo Braiding Tutorial
The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • Beads (multiple colors, sizes 11/0, 15/0, 8/0)
  • Bobbins (silicone recommended for ease of use)
  • Kumihimo disk
  • String or cord for braiding
  • Weights (for maintaining tension)

    Preparation: String 25 beads onto each string and secure them on bobbins.
    Start Plain Kumihimo: Begin with a section of plain Kumihimo braid to allow for finishing the ends later.
    Adding Beads: Slide a bead up underneath two parallel strings, then cross over and under to incorporate the bead into the braid.
    Maintain Tension: Attach weights to the end of your strings to help pull down and ensure the beads sit nicely in the braid.
    Repeat: Continue the process of adding beads, making sure each one is snugly positioned under the strings.
