    Quick Project Steps

In this PotomacBeads tutorial you will learn how to make a wire cage to show off your favorite gemstones.
Gather up Potomac jeweler's 18 gauge wire, round nose pliers, a wire cutter and chain nose pliers.
Cut 12 inches of wire. Using the round nose pliers, grab the wire at the end and roll to make a tiny loop. Continue bending the wire until it overlaps a little bit. Holding the loop with the chain nose pliers, coil the wire tightly to make the circle bigger until it’s about the size of a dime. Repeat on the other end.
Watch the Creating a Wire Cage Gemstone Pendant tutorial to see how Allie creates the body of the cage by rolling the coils towards each other. Use the pliers to open the cage and insert your favorite stone.
Have fun creating a wire cage for gemstone pendants, charms, ornaments or gifts. This is an easy wire working technique that you can use for a variety of projects.
