O Chain Beaded Rope Tutorial

This video tutorial from The Potomac Bead Company teaches you how to make a simple beaded chain or seed beaded "rope" using our 4x2mm Czech glass "O Beads." These chains make a great resource for hanging pendants, beads, and more!

O Chain Beaded Rope Tutorial
The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • Czech glass "O Beads" (4x2mm)
  • 15/0 seed beads (alternatively, 11/0 can be used)
  • Wildfire beading thread (0.006" in white or color to match your beads)
  • Clasp (lobster clasp, barrel clasp, etc.)
  • Wire protector
  • Size 10 English beading needle

    Quick Project Steps

    Attach the clasp to one end of the wire using a wire protector to prevent wear and tear.
    Start the beadwork by threading an O Bead followed by a 15/0 seed bead, then loop back through the O Bead.
    Pull the thread tight to ensure the seed bead sits snugly against the O Bead, minimizing gaps.
    Continue adding O Beads and 15/0 seed beads, pulling tightly after each addition to maintain consistency.
    As you work, monitor the tension and thread visibility, aiming for a seamless appearance.
    Finish the chain to your desired length and secure the other end of the clasp.
