  • How to Make a Hammered Wire Pendant
This tutorial from The Potomac Bead Company shows you how to make a hammered wire pendant just using some metal wire of your choice and some beads. You will also need a hammer and hammering block (or other hard metal surfaces). The gauges of wire you will need are 14 or 16 gauge round and 20-24g round or half round.

Materials Used To make The  Project

Designer's Material List

The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • 14 or 16 gauge round copper wire
  • 20-24 gauge half round or round wire for binding
  • Hammer and hammering block (or any hard metal surface)
  • Round nose pliers, nylon jaw pliers, or needle nose pliers
  • Beads for decoration (optional)
  • Quick Project Steps

Preparing the Wire: Cut a 4-inch piece of 14 gauge copper wire. Using round nose pliers, create a loop at one end.
Shaping the Wire: Bend the wire into your desired shape, adding loops or curves as preferred.
Hammering the Wire: Place the wire on a hammering block and flatten it with a hammer for a textured look.
Binding the Pieces: Use a 20-24 gauge wire to bind two pieces of hammered wire together at several points.
Finalizing the Design: Adjust the shape and position of the wire pieces. Add additional bindings if necessary.
Decoration (Optional): Decorate your pendant with beads by attaching them using the 24 gauge wire.
